Introduction to EleVATE

The Elevating Voices, Addressing Depression, Toxic Stress and Equity (EleVATE) Collaborative works to establish equitable models in perinatal health.

We focus on the patient, health care team and health care system to change perinatal outcomes.  We acknowledge that prenatal care will not erase a lifetime of inequities that show up as toxic stress, trauma and other mental health concerns, but prenatal care can be a strong place of intervention to develop reproductive life plans, gain mental health coping skills to use during pregnancy and postpartum period, and change policies and systems to better support patients in the future.

We value a collaborative approach to care delivery and work to advance health equity.

EleVATE’s goals include:

Patients: Reduce inequitable adverse perinatal outcomes through group prenatal care.

Health Care Teams: Provide intensive trainings for health care teams and communities to support patients who are experiencing trauma, depression and psychosocial stress as result of racism.

Health Care System: Increase shared accountability between communities and health care teams through the development of innovative solutions, policies and new approaches to care delivery.
