“I think that too often we say, ‘We’re your OBGYN provider, he's your mental health provider, and she’s your primary care provider…’ It's very fragmented, and I think that mental health is such a part of everybody's lives, obviously. But in pregnancy, it's so important to intertwine the two. Whether they have a history of any mental health issues or not, all of us have something that could be encouraged or paid attention to better. All of us need help with self-care. Switching my brain from “What's wrong with you, to what happened to you?” to reframe situations and include trauma informed care just sort of switched something in my brain."
